Boston Red Sox Tickets - Is This The End Of The

The nature of Boston Red Sox tickets has changed in recent years. It used to be that fans would go see the notorious heartbreakers contend on a nearly annual basis, only to stumble in some unbelievable fashion down the stretch. That all changed in 2004, when the Red Sox ended their 86-year championship drought and reclaimed the World Series championship. These days, fans are clamoring for a return to the Fall Classic, and below we’ll take a look at how likely such a return is for the 2007 edition of the Red Sox.

Offseason Changes

The Red Sox were typically active this offseason, signing RF J.D. Drew and SS Julio Lugo. Their biggest splash, however, was also the biggest offseason player signing story in MLB, as the Red Sox added Japanese legend Daisuke Matsuzaka, the pitcher who boasts of the yet-to-be-seen “Gyro ball” that many proclaim will baffle hitters like no other pitch they’ve ever seen. These were all risky signings, but if Drew stays healthy and Matsuzaka is as good as advertised, the Red Sox improved dramatically both at the plate and on the mound.

Players to Watch

Aside from their new signings, other players on the roster will be worth the effort to obtain Boston Red Sox tickets this season. Manny Ramirez is back, and this ultra-talented hitter is never boring for many reasons. David Ortiz is coming off a 54-home run season, and is known as perhaps the most clutch hitter in the game. Josh Beckett and Curt Schilling return to the pitching staff, and their combination with Matsuzaka could be formidable.

2007 Outlook

The Red Sox find themselves in somewhat familiar territory, as they appear to be the favorites in the division along with the Yankees. The Blue Jays are not to be discounted, though, and it could be another close finish in the AL East. If the Red Sox can stay healthier than they did a year ago, avoid the off-field controversies and see Beckett return to form and Matsuzaka add to the staff, this team is as talented as any in MLB. That may seem like a lot of “ifs,” but it’s less than most teams face as they enter spring training.

The 2007 season will be another one to watch with interest for Red Sox and baseball fans everywhere, and Boston Red Sox tickets will once again give you a chance to see a team actively chase a championship.

Al Terry asked:

Fans want Red Sox tickets, come what may. Red Sox, a professional baseball team based in Boston, Massachusetts are currently the reigning World Champions. The “Red Sox” nicknamed the BoSox are one of the American League’s eight charter franchises.

The name ‘Red Sox’ refers to the red hose in the team uniform. Their club was founded in Boston in 1901. A member of the Major League and of the American League, the Fenway Park has been the team’s ballpark since 1912.

Early History

The Red Sox have an interesting history. Pittsburgh Pirates were their arch rivals in their first World Series in early 1990s. By 1918, the Red Sox won its fifth World Series. Soon after began one of the longest championship droughts in baseball history called the “Curse of the Bambino”. This is in reference to the tradeoff of **** Ruth to the New York Yankees in 1920. Thereafter, the team’s fortunes changed only after 2004, when the team won their sixth World Series Championship.
___________________________________________________________________

During the 1900s, New York Highlanders were the main rivals of the Red Sox. Through this period, several players helped the newly named Red Sox recover the game. Fans bought Red Sox tickets and cheered Center fielder Tris Speaker, Duffy, Tris Speaker, Harry Hooper, Joe Wood and Lewis Smokey.

Joseph Lannin, the owner signed **** Ruth on, who propelled the team to a winning streak of the World Series through 1915-1918. Baby Ruth was like a magnet for baseball lovers who bought Red Sox tickets to watch him play. However, in January 2, 1920, after **** Ruth was sold to the rival New York Yankees, the “Greatest Rivalry on Earth” began. More sales of players like Schang, Harry Harper, Mike McNally Everett Scott, and Bullet Joe Bush followed leading to Red Sox’s poor show in the 1920s and 1930s. From 1925 to 1932, the only bright spot of the team was Earl Webb.

Red Sox, Tom Yawkey And Star Players

It was only after 1933 that the Red Sox saw a change in their bad fortune. Tom Yawkey bought the Red Sox and it was his for the next 70 years. Yawkey brought in Williams, one of the greatest hitters of all time. With Williams, the Red Sox reached the 1946 World Series.

The 1950s was a period of distress for the Red Sox. A decade later, year 1967 gave a fresh lease of life to the team with Yastrzemski and Tony Conigliaro, the youngest player in Major League Baseball to hit his 100th home run. In the 1970s, Fred Lynn won both the American League Rookie of the Year award and the Most Valuable Player award. The 1978 playoff game, against the Yankees was the closest that the Red Sox got to the World Series through the decade.

In the 1980s, the team’s fortunes changed again with exceptional performances by Jim Rice, Dwight Evans, Don Baylor, and future Hall of Famer Wade Boggs.

The Red Sox won the AL East for the first time in 11 seasons. Postseason 1988, Joe Morgan took over as GM and the club won 12 games in a row, in what is referred to till date as ‘Morgan Magic’.

During the 1990s period, the Red Sox had some success, but were unable to return to the caliber of a World Series’ team. Yet the 1996 season had its individual highlights. Roger Clemens tied his major league record. Tony Armas, Jr. and Carl Pavano were the star players in this period.

Red Sox From Year 2002 Till Date

Year 2002, saw Epstein become the youngest general manager in the history of the Major Leagues. The Red Sox faced the St. Louis Cardinals again in the 2004 World Series and went on to win the game, notching its first World Series in 86 years with some terrific playing. Shortly, Jason Varitek was named the team captain.

Theo Epstein became the General Manager. As the GM, Epstein restocked the team for 2007. He negotiated an agreement with Japanese star pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka and Julio Lugo and brought them into the team. In the 2007 World Series, the Red Sox defeated the Colorado Rockies and captured their second World title in four years.

There is no looking back for the Red Sox now. If you have not managed to get Red Sox tickets, go online and contact a broker to deliver the tickets to your doorstep. Be a part of all that live pumping action with Red Sox tickets.

Boston Red Sox Ted Williams Fame And History

BooYah McGwire asked:

It does not take very much to make somebody realize just what an impact Boston Red Sox Ted Williams had on the world of professional baseball. As a matter of fact, you would have to have been living under a rock for quite some time if you have never heard the name of this famous player. As far as contributions to baseball go, there is plenty that the world of baseball fans can thank Boston Red Sox Ted Williams for.

When talking of such a famous player, it is almost too difficult to figure out just where to begin. Boston Red Sox Ted Williams was famous for being voted in as a American League Baseball Most Valuable Player more than once. In addition to that, he enjoyed the honor of being one of the celebrated players to be inducted into the prestigious Baseball Hall of Fame back in 1966. Then, once you add to this all of the wonderful statistics and achievements under his belt and it should be quite easy to see just why Boston Red Sox Ted Williams is such a valuable piece of baseball history.
___________________________________________________________________

Just as many other players in the major leagues, Boston Red Sox Ted Williams got his start by playing baseball in the minor leagues. Stepping up to the plate for teams such as the Minneapolis Millers and the San Diego Padres, Ted Williams had his fair share of practice to get to his famous position with the Boston Red Sox. In 1939, he got his chance to move into the major leagues with the Boston Red Sox. Ted Williams wasted no time at all before he began breaking records with his batting average.

In 1941 Williams had one of the greatest individual seasons for any ballplayer in history. At age twenty-three he hit .406, the last ballplayer to reach that magic figure, won his first home run crown, and won the All-Star Game with the most dramatic hit of his career, a ninth-inning two-out homer in Briggs Stadium.

Today, you can ask just about any one of the thousands and thousands of Boston Red Sox fans about Ted Williams and all of his incredible contributions to the world of baseball and they are sure to give you quite an earful. From one of the most passionate fan bases in the world of major league baseball, it is not hard to see just why Ted Williams is such a cherished player whose name is sure to go down in history.

If so, then you can keep the tradition of cheering for your championship team with great items such as shirts, mugs, and even steering wheel covers that all sport the Boston Red Sox logo! Showing off your team spirit really has never been easier. Boston Red Sox swept the AL West champion Angels in the Division Series, winning Game 3 by a score of 8-6. Then advanced to a rematch in the 2004 American League Championship Series against their bitter rivals: the New York Yankees. Boston Red Sox became history makers, becoming the first team in Major League Baseball history to recover from a 3-0 deficit. Boston Red Sox won the 2004 World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals, a team that had posted the best record in the major leagues and that had defeated them in the past. The final out of the game was made on Cardinals shortstop Edgar Renteria at 11:40 pm, in the midst of a lunar eclipse. Boston Red Sox won baseball’s World Championship for the first time in 86 years. Ramirez was named MVP of the Series.

Boston Red Sox held a parade or in Boston mayor Thomas Menino words, they put up a “rolling rally” on Saturday, October 30, 2004. More than 3 million members of “Red Sox Nation” filled the streets of Boston to cheer as the team rode Duck Tours. Boston Red Sox became the Sports Illustrated’s Sportsmen of the Year.

Fenway Park, the home of the Boston Red Sox resounds with the echoes of great baseball players: Cy Young, **** Ruth, Jimmy Collins, Duffy Lewis, Tris Speaker, Harry Hooper, Joe Cronin, Bobby Doerr, Johnny Pesky, Ted Williams, Jimmie Foxx, Carlton Fisk, Jim Rice and Carl Yastrzemski, to name just a few.  http://www.ticketmayor.com It remains the same, much like it did the day it opened on April 20, 1912. The park is actually their second home. The Boston Americans became one of the charter members of the fledgling American League in 1901 and played ball at the Huntington Avenue Grounds, now a part of Northeastern University’s campus. In 1904, Boston Globe owner General Charles Henry Taylor bought the team for his son John I. Taylor who changed the club’s name to Red Sox in 1907. Tired of the leasing arrangement for the Avenue Grounds, Taylor decided to build a park for the team naming it Fenway Park because of its location in the Fenway section of Boston.

Edgar Renteria upgrades the champs and they’ve replaced two starting pitchers with three: Matt Clement, Wade Miller and one-time Fenway villain David Wells. Jason Varitek is back and it is highly likely that this team is better than its predecessors. GM Theo Epstein took a major step towards forming the team for 2007 season and has managed to rope in Japanese superstar pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka. Jonathan Papelbon will be the starter for this season. Other additions are Keith Foulke, the star of World Series 2004, Hideki Okajima, the Japanese lefty reliever formerly of the Yomiuri Giants and lefty J.C. Romero from Puerto Rica. Reliever Joel Pineiro has signed a 1 year contract with them. Runelvys Hernandez relief pitcher, Joe McEwing infielder and Kerry Robinson outfielder has also signed minor league contract with the team. Mark Loretta was replaced by Houston and Alex Gonzalez has been replaced by Julio Lugo.

The hot favorites are Joel Piñeiro, Brendan Donnelly, Devern Hansack, J.C. Romero, Craig Hansen, Manny Delcarmen, Mike Timlin and Julian Tavarez, while on the other hand Jonathon Papelbon, the starter of the team will be resuming his role as closer. Boston Red Sox defeated MET in a recent match held on March, 7 scoring 9 on a grand slam as against 5 of MET.

Babe Ruth Baseball Cards, Still A Good Investment?

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008
Veronica Davis asked:

The legend of **** Ruth is still just as much alive today than it was during his reign of baseball in the early 1900’s. There isn’t a baseball fanatic, or baseball cards collector in the world that would not want to get their hands on an official **** Ruth baseball card, and he continues to have die-hard fans that weren’t even thought of being born when he was hitting home runs.

Babe Ruth, born in Baltimore Maryland was actually named George Herman Ruth Jr., but became known by many names including The Great Bambino, The Home Run King, and The Sultan of Swat. His record speaks for itself with 714 home runs which remained unbeatable by baseball players to follow for an astounding 39 years. He was born to Kate Schamberger-Ruth and George Herman Ruth, Sr., but did not live out his entire childhood with them. They worked long hours, and when **** Ruth was seven years old his father took him to St. Mary’s Industrial School for Boys and gave them custody of him. There, he didn’t conform well to their rigid environment. Family visiting days were not even highlights he could look forward to because his family didn’t come to visit.

As you can see, his father was not to be thanked for enhancing his then, unreal baseball abilities. The man who has the right to that claim is Brother Matthias of the St. Mary’s Industrial School for Boys, who eventually became a father figure of sorts. He played on the school’s baseball team, starting out as a catcher, and then given the chance to play the pitcher’s position. His talent was evident. **** Ruth was signed to the Baltimore Orioles at the age of 19 by their owner, Jack Dunn. It was during this time that he obtained the nick name Babe, because people viewed him as “Jack’s newest babe”… Jack Dunn had the reputation as a top scout at that time. The Orioles were a Boston Red Sox minor league team, but Ruth’s contract was bought out by the Red Sox after playing on the Orioles for only five months. He was now playing with the big boys in the major league.

Babe Ruth is, of course, mostly known for his amazing batting talent. However, for the first six years on the Boston Red Sox he was a pitcher. He set unbelievable records, in both pitching and batting positions in the years to follow. Good times rolled for the Red Sox until 1919, when Harry Frazee became the new owner of the team and chose to sell Ruth to the Ney York Yankees. What did he get in return for handing over the legend in this transaction? Ruth was sold for $100,000 and a $350,000 loan that Frazee in turn used to finance his Broadway productions dream.

It was this turn of events that led to the “Curse of the Bambino”. The Yankees experienced tremendous victories, while the Red Sox wouldn’t earn a World Series title again until many years later in 2004. The legend of **** Ruth will always carry on, and the Curse will always be felt in the heart of Red Sox fans. Therefore, **** Ruth baseball cards will always be highly sought after.

Angels Vs. Red Sox

Saturday, September 20th, 2008
Daniel asked:

Angels -1 1/2 vs Red Sox

This series will be baseball at its best!

On paper, the Angels should just destroy the Red Sox. As of right now, the Angels are arguably the most talented team in baseball. The Angels seem to do no wrong, but if the Red Sox are anything, it is resilient and unrelenting in the post season.

Angels’ manager Mike Scioscia has his boys playing better than ever! From K-Rod being the most dominant closer in baseball right now to Vladimir Guerrero playing like the AL MVP and Mark Teixeira being a gift from God for the offense. It is truly difficult to find fault when it comes to Angels’ baseball. They are just as solid as it comes.

Although the odds are against them, the Red Sox are no stranger to adversity. Whether it is injuries, players in slumps or Manny Ramirez’s of the world causing problems in the clubhouse, the Sox always seem to find a way to keep winning.

With Ramirez being traded to Los Angeles after an ugly divorce with the Sox and JD Drew playing in the Boston lineup still in question for the post season the Red Sox are still an incredibly talented team. The defending champs have it all from quality pitching, David Ortiz’s bat and a lineup full of role players and potential MVP candidates. No matter the circumstance it is hard to count the Red Sox out of contention.

The way the Angels have dominated everyone they have faced this season they should kick Terry Francona’s title defense to the curb with relative ease, but if any team were to end the Angels seemingly destine World Series campaign it is the Boston Red Sox. The boys from Boston can flip the switch at any given moment and turn into an unstoppable force causing all sorts of problems for the Angels.

This series should be a classic! Make sure you get the popcorn ready because these kinds of playoff series are what make baseball worth watching.

Baseball Memorabilia - Support your Team and Add to your Collection

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008
Robert Riles asked:

Baseball memorabilia is for those fans who are passionate about baseball and enjoy collecting items that reflect this love of theirs. If one were to spend time searching the Internet, they would find that most of the baseball memorabilia is available right here and at a cheaper price. The price quoted by the sites will be a tad lesser than what we see in stores. The one catch is there is no way we can be sure of the authenticity of the memorabilia on the net. Whereas in a store, we can inspect the product and comfort ourselves that it is indeed genuine. An autographed bat or ball would be worth a lot for a person who is crazy about this sport. It is not in terms of money, but just the sheer fact that he owns the piece would make a difference. Some would like to purchase memorabilia from a game they had recently been to, so they can have something that reminds them of that evening or the match.

There are some stores and sites that specialize in dealing with antique products, and here one might find **** Ruth autographed ball or bat. Of a jersey that was worn by a leading player at a final match. All this would add excitement to the fan’s life and make them popular among their colleagues or friends. The baseball championships and youth baseball matches are very popular in America since this sport is considered the national sport. And so any memorabilia made with the logo or a player’s picture in them is bound to sell like hot cakes. It is up to the fan to not waste time and rush to buy whatever he fancies else he will have to wait for fresh stocks to arrive by which time a lot can change.

Be it a baseball bat or a framed picture or a towel used during the game, everything is made available on the site. There are some memorabilia that were part of the very first season of baseball, this goes to show the amount of the interest the people who’ve created this site have on the sport. They also provide information about the product and so one is reassured of its value. A picture of the Boston red Sox player Curt Shilling or his autograph on a ball would be the perfect gift of baseball memorabilia . Imagine being able to hold a ball that was played by **** Ruth, the biggest baseball legend ever or holding a bat autographed by Mickey Mantle. Would it be like a dream come true? It would be a moment to cherish when you receive the parcel you have been eagerly waiting for. Or if you were once a baseball player, then possessing any baseball memorabilia would be like holding a piece of your past and reconnecting with the same. A game that is a big part of every Americans life would become more precious if they were to hold one of these.

The Red Sox Are Off to a Great Start

Monday, September 15th, 2008
Jason Oconnor asked:

There’s nothing quite like being part of Red Sox Nation, especially this season. So far this season, they are dominating their division. Although the Boston Red Sox have dropped a couple of games to Oakland in the last few days, and more than their fair share to the Yankees, they are still definitely one of the best teams in the MLB this year for many reasons.

It’s still early in the baseball season, and of course the Sox have started off strong and fizzled by the end in the past. But they are looking very strong and they have a great chance of making it far into the playoffs, and dare I say, to the World Series.

By looking at their performance so far this season, it’s obvious there is something special going on. They are ten games ahead of any other team in the American League East and have shown well against every team they have played against. They have one of the best records in baseball currently and will surely be a contender for the 2007 World Series.

The Red Sox pitching is excellent this year, led by Curt Shilling. Shilling has an Earned Run Average of 3.91 this season and has only thrown eighty-nine hits in seventy-six innings pitched. Josh Beckett is also doing fantastic this season with an ERA of only 2.95 and only fifty-one hits in sixty-four innings pitched.

Rounding out the Red Sox starting pitches are Daisuke Matsuzaka, Tim Wakefield, and Julian Tavarez, each with strong performances this season. And Lester is due to come back to the rotation soon, which will only make the rotation even stronger.

They also have great relievers and closers as well. Hideki Okajima has excellent so far and has an Earned Run Average of only 1.27. Rounding out the bullpen are Jonathan Papelbon, Brendan Donnelly, J.C. Romero, and Joel Pineiro. The quality of the Red Sox pitching has made it very hard to score against them and has helped neutralize some of the strong offenses they have faced.

Pitching wins games and gets teams to the post season. A team’s defense is vital for wins. So far this season, the Sox pitching is foing its job well.

The Red Sox also have a very good offensive side led by third baseman Mike Lowell and designated hitter David Ortiz. Mike Lowell and David Ortiz have slugging percentages above .500 and batting averages of .332 and .333 respectively. However, Lowell and Ortiz are not the only forces behind the plate.

Manny Ramirez has a batting average of .286 along with eight home runs and thirty-two runs batted in. Kevin Youkilis has a batting average of .346 with seventy-three hits, eight home runs, and thirty-one runs batted in.

Dustin Pedroia has been on fire lately offensively as well. And one of the most consistent players who seems to always get his bat on the ball is Kevin Youkalis. If Manny Ramirez starts to bat the way we all know he can, he’ll be an even more serious weapon in the lineup. In the past, Ramirez has heated up as the season progressed, so I expect his batting average to continually improve.

The Red Sox have had some hiccups along the way and have lost some games this season they were expected to win. The have lost to the New York Yankees several times this season despite this being one of the worst seasons in recent Yankee history. The Sox really don’t have any superstars on the team. However, the are playing play excellent technical baseball and work well as a team. They are always doing what it takes to win and playing smart baseball.

The Boston Red Sox are a sure bet to win their division as they are leading the Blue Jays, Yankees, Orioles, and D-Rays by 10 games or more. However, they do have some competition in other MLB divisions. The Angels, Brewers, Dodgers, Padres, and Mets are all having great seasons as well and could pose a threat to the Red Sox in the post season. However, the Sox have one of the most solid and consistent teams in the MLB this year and they have a great chance of holding together all the way to October.

It’s true that the Sox have struggled so far this year with the Yankees and more recently, the Athletics, but by the end of the season, they will have an excellent chance of winning the AL Pennant. Look for them to be the team to beat in the post season.
