Baltimore Orioles Tickets – Weekend Series Versus the Boston Red Sox

Get your Baltimore Orioles tickets as soon as you can, sports fans, because some great divisional baseball excitement awaits you this weekend. The Orioles are certainly performing better than anyone thought they would this season. Even in the cellar of the AL East, they are only three games under .500. This young team is learning fast, and they have shown signs of life in recent days. While they are certainly uneven, they have surprised a few teams with their grit and determination. They definitely have what it takes to knock off the Red Sox on any given day. The Red Sox are riding high right now, fresh off a drubbing of the Orioles in their last series meeting. However, this time the Orioles will be out for the revenge, which may cause the BoSox to have to play on their heels a bit at first. However, for a team playing at such a high level as the Red Sox, it may not be an issue. Will the Sox beat up on the Orioles again? Or will the young team from Maryland stand up to the big bullies in the AL East? You’ll just have to get your Baltimore Orioles tickets to find out.

The Orioles one again occupy the bottom position in American League East. It seems absurd that such a proud franchise has been reduced to perennial cellar-dwelling as of late. Cal Ripken Jr. seems like a pleasant fading memory or even a very nice dream at this point. The Iron Horse was only recently breaking records and winning gold gloves in Baltimore, but those days are over now. Now the Orioles are rebuilding. They have chosen not to spend the big money of the Yankees or Red Sox. Instead, they have been developing their farm system and bringing up young players they believe will provide the foundation for a long, stable future for the franchise. While this has made for some lean years recently, this young team is starting to play up to their potential, much to the joy of Orioles fans everywhere.

The Red Sox are riding high after stumbling out of the gate. While everyone in Boston was busy scratching their heads early on the season, the Red Sox just put their heads down and powered through their slump. Now that Big Papi is getting hits again, it seems to have reinvigorated the whole team. Manny is certainly feelin’ it again, as he just jacked his 500th homer over the Green Monster last week. With the rest of Boston’s amazing cast of characters playing up to their ability, the Tampa Bay Rays need to look over their shoulder almost every day to make sure the Sox haven’t caught up to them in the AL East standings yet. While the defending World Series champs have their eyes on bigger prizes, they cannot take their focus away from the Orioles this weekend or they may lose ground in the race for the division.

What are you waiting for? This is the giant versus the underdog. What better storyline could you ask for? Get your Baltimore Orioles tickets right now!

After his recent debut in the Major Leagues - the 24-year old Brett Gardner managed an extraordinary victory in the tenth inning over the Boston Red Sox. Even his teammates went out to the field to congratulate him in front of 54,922 fans.

“It is marvelous. Something that I will remember for the rest of my life”, said Gardner after the Yankees victory of 5-4 before Boston. “Finally it is an incredible experience”.

Alex Rodriguez batted his 536th home run drawing with the Yankee Mickey Mantle, Hall of fame member. The Dominican Robinson Canó batted a triple of two runs in the seventh inning before the Puerto Rican Javier Lopez, to draw the game 4-4.

On the other hand; Cano batted a simple before Jonathan Papelbon (3-3) to open the tenth inning, remaining with a record of 23-9 and now with a new average of .252. The Dominican batter Wilson Betemit was punched while Gardner arrived at the plate with only two hits in 20 shifts this year he actually hit a pair of launches, accepted two balls, and hit another launch which led to a foul.  Later on he connected a smooth hit that bounced in the glove of Alex Cora directly to the garden, which allowed Caró to score. Rivera (3-3) only did six launches in the ninth inning and then launched a perfect hit to keep the victory.

In other Sunday’s games updates Evan Longoria batted a home run of two runs during an attack in the third inning while the Tampa Bay Rays won its seventh consecutive game after defeating 9-2 the Kansas City Royals.

Longoria has 16 home runs; a draw with Bob Hamelin (Kansas City 1994) as the second newly rookie with more home runs before the All-Star Game in the 20 last years.

Longoria is one of five players the fans will vote to fill the last position in the American League stars team. The Dominican José Guillén is also a candidate.

The Dominican Carlos Pena prompted two annotations with a hit and Longoria continued with his home run giving to Tampa Bay an advantage of 5-2 in the third inning.

Carlos Gómez managed three runs in the seventh inning before Cliff Reads and the Minnesota Twins to finish a 4-3 in favor of the Cleveland Indians. This was the eighth consecutive rout for the Indians, and the first one for Lee (11-2) in nine openings.

In the National League, the Dominican Aramis Ramirez batted two unstoppable hits and scored three runs, while Sean Marshall obtained his first victory of the year taking Chicago Cubs to a 7-1 against the St Louis Cardinals.

Marshall (1-2) managed a win for the first time in five openings after allowing a run and six unstoppable hits in six innings. Aside from the Ludwick’s home run with an out in the sixth inning, the Cardinals only had other two runners in position to score against the left-handed launcher.

In the meantime, the Dominican Fernando Tatis batted a home run of two runs in the twelfth inning taking the New York Mets to a victory of 4-2 over the Philadelphia Phillies, in a game that lasted more than seven hours.

The Yankees-Red Sox rivalry qualifies under both of these categories

Friday, October 17th, 2008
Steven Zoine asked:

A New York-Boston bout is the greatest feud in all of sports. No other match up in professional sports offers as much history, hostility, and competition as when the Yanks and Sox assemble and prepare to battle. Where else can you see a 73-year-old coach thrown to the ground by the opposing team’s ace pitcher? The only place to catch such action and intensity is in the Bronx or at Fenway Park. The New York-Boston hatred is unmatched in professional sports and is something baseball needs to survive in an era marked by an asterisk.

During a time in baseball in which many spectators are left feeling bamboozled due to accusations of performance enhancing drug use, the sport needs something to pull itself out of the gutter. The one thing that can revive America’s hallmark pastime is the grudge match between the “Evil Empire” and the formerly cursed BoSox.

Whether it be George Steinbrenner calling out his own club or the opposing Sox, you can guarantee that whatever the outcome is, it will be historic. Anytime these two teams meet for an American League East war, the fire starts to rekindle in fan’s eyes.

No other duel in sports has created such abhorrence between two cities as the Yankees and Red Sox have. No other rivalry has been a catalyst for causing two members of the grounds crew to jump into the visiting bullpen to try to take on Jeff Nelson and Karim Garcia as we have seen in the 2003 ALCS at Fenway Park.

The Yankees and Red Sox have an historic, and at the same time, a maniacal, relationship. The bitter vengeance between these two teams is something that needs to be present in order for baseball to survive. Every person in America is sick of hearing about Barry Bonds, BALCO, and every other mind numbing steroid allegation that has been regurgitated over and over again in the past few months. Yankees-Red Sox games are the perfect way for fans to regain appreciation for the sport by recognizing the great history between the two teams.

Even in May, when games do not carry as much weight as they do at the end of the season, New York against Boston is a big deal. Early season match ups between the two teams always pressure players into bringing their ‘A game’ to the ballpark and allow fans of the respective cities to gain bragging rights.

There are other great rivalries all throughout sports, but none of them contain the gusto and all pale in comparison to the zeal that is brought to the table when Joe Torre’s squad goes up against Terry Francona’s. No other rivalry has as rich a history and deep disdain as the saga that is brought on when Bean-town comes to the Bronx or vice versa, and quite frankly, there never will be another rivalry that is half as great.

Odds on the Yankees to win this week’s series were 5/8 @ http://www.WagerWeb.com

Boston Red Sox Tickets

Macie asked:

The Boston Red Sox are a Major League Baseball franchise. They are competing in the Eastern Division of the American League. Opened on April 20, 1912, their home stadium, Fenway Park, is the oldest major league ballpark still in operation.. The Red Sox has the honor of winning the first World Series as the Boston Americans in 1903 against the Pittsburgh Pirates. After an 86-year interval, they were able to record their most recent World Series championship win in 2004.

The Red Sox’s chief rival is the New York Yankees. The two clubs “enjoy” one of the longest-standing rivalries in North American sports.

The minor Western League declared its equality with the National League under Ban Johnson in 1900. It was the only major league then. The name of the league was changed to the American League by Johnson. Initially the team was competing in the streets. However, the upstart placed franchises in two of the largest and most important National League cities, Philadelphia and Boston.

The Americans participated in the first modern World Series in 1903. They were successful in beating the favored Pittsburgh Pirates, winning five games to three. The Americans, aided by the modified chants of “Tessie” by the Royal Rooters fan club and by its stronger pitching staff, managed to overcome the odds, winning the first ever World Series.

The Red Sox logo used in 1908, when they were simply known as “Boston”.The 1904 club was almost as good as the previous team. But the Americans found themselves in a tight pennant race through the last games of the season due to the surprise emergence of the New York Highlanders. In order to win the pennant, the Highlanders needed to win both games.

The Americans lost 100 games in the 1906 season. But the newly renamed Red Sox was able to improve immediately with the help of several new star players. By 1909, Red Sox worked their way to third place and the legendary center fielder Tris Speaker had become a fixture in the Boston outfield. However, the Red Sox would not win the pennant again until their 105-win 1912 season.

Joseph Lannin was the owner of the Red Sox from 1913 to 1916. He was successful in signing **** Ruth who was soon the best-known and one of the best players ever. The Red Sox propelled to the World Series again with another 101 wins in 1915. They were able to beat the Philadelphia Phillies four games to one. The 1916 team repeated the pennant. The Red Sox won the World Series once again. They defeated the Brooklyn Robins this time. By 1918, the team found itself at the top of the heap again, led by **** Ruth to a World Series championship over the Chicago Cubs.

When Boston could not win for a few decades and New York achieved great success, the sale of **** Ruth came to be viewed as the beginning of the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry. It is described as the “Greatest Rivalry on Earth”. Frazee continued to sell many of his star players after the sale of Ruth to the Yankees.

The Red Sox didn’t reach the postseason for the next seven years after the 1978 playoff game. During that period, they finished no higher than third place in their division.

In the 1986 World Series the Red Sox played the New York Mets. The Red Sox won the first two games in Shea Stadium, but lost the next two at Fenway, knotting the series at 2 games apiece. After Bruce Hurst recorded his second victory of the series in game 5; the Red Sox returned to Flushing Meadows looking to garner their first championship in 68 years. However, Game Six marked the most devastating losses in club history. Roger Clemens was curiously lifted from the game with a 3-2 lead after pitching seven strong innings.

The Red Sox were able to return to the postseason in 1988. With the club in fourth place early in the 1988 season, manager John McNamara was fired. He was replaced by Joe Morgan. Immediately the club won 12 games in a row, and 19 of 20 overall. They soured up to the AL East title in what would be referred to as Morgan’s Magic.

In 1990, the Red Sox would again win the division and face the Athletics in the ALCS. However, the A’s swept the Series in four.

In 2000, the Red Sox failed to take advantage of Nomar Garciaparra’s career year and Pedro Martinez’s historic season. Other standouts included reliever Derek Lowe and outfielders Carl Everett and Dante Bichette, but the rest of the team was weak, and the Red Sox stumbled to an 85-77 record.

GM Theo Epstein’s first major step toward restocking the team for 2007 was to pursue one of the most anticipated acquisitions in recent history. The Red Sox had won the bid for the rights to negotiate a major league contract with Japanese superstar pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka. Coming into the 2007 season the red sox have still yet to name a closer. The favorite to win the position right now is Joel Pineiro. We built Ticket Luck to provide Boston Red Sox and other tickets with a unique plan. Instead of the usual 20% mark up, we decided to go for a 1-2% mark up. At that margin, we don’t spend anything on advertizing. If you are lucky enough to find this site, you would have saved a tidy sum for yourself. We hope that we will be successful through word of mouth instead of a massive banner ad. marketing budget.
