Why do Yankee and Red Sox fans think their rivalry is the only one that matters?

To listen to the Yankee and Red Sox fans you would think they are the only teams in baseball? What about Giants vs Dodgers, White Sox vs Cubs?
Honestly it’s almost like they feel who ever wins between Boston and New york wins it all. Maybe the rest of us should just quit.
